I first heard about this beer from this crazy fuckin kid who used to listen to my show.  Yeah a fuckin kid.  I believe he was 14 or 15.  Anyhow, this beer was more easily available on the east coast back then, but because Dogfish Head is a smaller craft brewery, I assume they weren't distributing their beers nationwide.  So being here in California, I was not able to easily get my hands on this brew but I was always on the look out.  In case you didn't already know...I FUCKING LOVE BEER!

So tonight I went to the store in search of beer and felt like looking for something new to try since I have not really had a choice in the beers I have drank in recent months.  Don't ask...its just how its been lately, and I need to stop drinking with pussy beer drinkers.  Okay so looking around at the beer section, I found some Dogfish Head ale.  I was pretty excited to see it as I have been hoping to see one of these brews for months.

Well just my luck, there were two different variations to choose from, 60 Minute IPA and 90 Minute Imperial IPA.  Well I had to go for the 90 Minute.  I didn't even bother to look at the ABV for this beer but just took it home, popped one open and began drinking it.  I was pleasantly greeted with a wonderfully aromatic and tasty IPA.  I LOVE HOPPY BEER!  Imagine a Sierra Nevada with an even better taste and a higher ABV.  Yes this 90 Minute Imperial IPA has a high ABV.  Maybe the fact that it only came in a 4 pack of 12 oz. bottles should have given that away, but it was not until I had drank about half of the first bottle that I even bothered to look at the bottle to see what the ABV was...

9% Alcohol By Volume.  Yeah after just one bottle I was feeling the effects and loving this beer.  But to be honest, I really think it began to taste better as soon as I realized it was a 9% ABV beer.  Well as I said, its HOPPY and I love that, but its not overpoweringly HOPPY.  In fact, according to the bottle, they have balanced out the HOPS with a "ridiculous amount of English Two-row Barley."  This beer comes highly recommended by MBC!  I haven't got a way to rate or grade beers...just know that this beer is fucking awesome!  And yes I'm drunk off this beer right now as I type this review, so I am a bit biased.

By the way, I also saw this brewery on the movie Beer Wars and seeing how much love the brewmaster puts into this beer and his business made me really want to support this company to the fullest.  So I was more than happy to throw down $11 for 4 12 oz bottles of this wonderful beer.  I hope you do the same and if you have not seen Beer Wars, you need to check it out.
